Celia’s Experience With RA

Celia was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as a young mother. Balancing motherhood and RA was no easy task, and she and her husband Edgar struggled to cope.

Understanding how other individuals progress with rheumatoid arthritis can help you get an idea about the process involved, and will show you that you aren’t alone.

Finding the right treatment to force rheumatoid arthritis into remission can take time. It’s important to keep an open mind and be patient with your rheumatologist to try different strategies — even for Celia, who is now in remission, the process took time.

These strategies might include lifestyle modifications as well as different pharmacological treatments. Once remission is achieved, it is important to still visit your rheumatologist to make sure that the effects of the treatment are still present and to keep up with any complementary therapies.

Since remission means low disease activity, take advantage of things that caused pain before, such as more exercise and spending more time having fun with those who were supporting you. Celia was given a second chance at life. Don’t forget, there is hope!
