Effie Koliopoulos is a writer, blogger, YouTuber/vlogger/content creator and a patient advocate, who has been living with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis for 14 years.
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Effie has a B.A. in Communications- Journalism, Public Relations and Screenwriting. She also earned a certification for integrative nutrition health coaching. Her mission and goal is to use a holistic approach to help those living with rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, chronic illness, disability and joint replacement pre/post-surgery, cope and thrive.
She has worked with several non-profits, organizations and charities as either an ambassador, volunteer, patient advocate, intern or employee to either share her story in verbal or written form, raise awareness, participate in campaigns and more. Some of these include the; Arthritis Foundation, Suffering the Silence, InvisiYouth, Diversability, Breakthrough Crew, Arthritis National Research Foundation, and The 50 State Network- Creaky Joints.
Effie has been featured in places such as, Yahoo Lifestyle, Cure Arthritis, theRAconnection and The Mighty. Also, her tips on living well with the disease can be seen in the Health Monitor winter 2017 publication, Guide to RA Living with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She has a YouTube channel called, RA & Myself which was partly inspired by the belief that illness does not have to define who you are, as it’s only a part of your story. Effie encourages those living with invisible or visible illnesses, to continue being their authentic selves.
