Susan has been writing about living with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis with NewLifeOutlook since August 2017. For the past nineteen years, she has been an elementary classroom teacher in a large urban district in Connecticut. She has also pursued her own education, earning an MA in Elementary Education and a 6th Year Advanced Certificate as a Classroom Teacher Specialist. She has continued her learning by attending conferences and writing grants, securing approximately $5000 of materials for our students’ enrichment.
Her work with inclusion teaching and using humor to successfully connect with behaviorally challenged children was recognized with two Excellence in Teaching Awards (2006, 2012) and a nomination for Teacher of the Year in 2006.
She began a blog about living with arthritis to express how her life had changed since an OA and RA diagnosis ten years ago. Soon after, she discovered NewLifeOutlook and have been grateful for her participation in this platform to share and connect with other people living with this type of condition. When she's not teaching or writing, she enjoys spending time with my family and friends. She loves watching comedy, traveling, and reading on the beach.
